Bar Pleiades

Part of the Daniel Boulud empire, Bar Pleiades is a great place to snag a drink before dining in neighboring Cafe Boulud, or just grabbing a drink in general.  You’re on 76th and Madison, so dress accordingly and expect an appropriately chic crowd in a space whose décor was inspired by Coco Chanel and 1930s Art Deco.  The menu includes four sections – traditional, seasonal, “le potager” – which means from the vegetable garden, and “le voyage” which takes inspiration from around the world, and changes on a regular basis.  A good spot for an upscale date or breaking in an older crowd the the pleasures of cocktails.

Good for: Romantic date – Where to go when other people are paying
