Dear Irving: A First Look

Dear Irving, a new cocktail bar just north of Union Square, is still in previews, but we couldn’t resist the urge to write about it.  First-timers will ooh and ahh when they walk through the space, which dazzles and delights with its beaded wall partitions and Parisian-inspired backroom. The bar oozes with nostalgia (think “A Midnight in Paris”) and is the perfect addition to the block, home to other date-worthy spots like Casa Mono, Cibar, Pierre Loti, and Pure Food & Wine.

Whether it’s date night, ladies night, drink after work night, the ambiance lends itself to long conversations and lingering. We’ve been fans of Meaghan Dorman and her other establishments, Raines Law Room and Lantern’s Keep for years because of their ability to deliver both class and craft. From what we’ve seen Dear Irving does not disappoint.

Here’s a sneak peek at the space and a a handful of cocktails we sampled, mostly variations on classics, but definitely a sign of good things to come.

Dear Irving, located at 55 Irving Place, officially opens to the public on 6/2, but is soft opening over the weekend.  To stay in the know about other cocktail bars – where to go and what to drink – subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on Twitter @dipsology
