Alphabet City Gin Palace

Gin Palace

Gin Palace is the newest piece of the cocktail trifecta on the corner of 6th and A (the other two being Cienfuegos and Amor y Amargo) from the same team as Death & Co down the street.  The entire menu, predictably, is gin-based.  The space feels a bit like the Meatpacking has come to Alphabet City, with a three tier black leather tufted sofa of sorts along one wall, a mysterious cage in the middle of the room and golden wings that adorn everything from the light fixtures to the doors when you walk in.  There’s a DJ nightly spinning solid tunes, and we wouldn’t be surprised if there was some dancing on that oversize sofa in the wee hours of a Saturday night…

Who: Groups of friends

What: Gin! Including the French 75, a White Negroni and the Old Maid (gin, cucumber, mint, lime), plus the much-talked-about G&Ts on tap (now back after a temporary ban courtesy of the Health Department).  For the gin-unconverted, there is a full bar of other spirits as well.

When: Good for late night – it gets super packed on the weekends.  Check it out on an off night earlier in the week for a quieter scene.

Good for: Casual drinks – Late night party scene – Groups
