Mace

Opened on March 30, 2016, Mace Bar offers a menu entirely inspired by spices with a bar program led by Nico de Soto, also of the Experimental Cocktail Club.

Housed in the old Louis 649 space, Mace is the latest addition to the Alphabet City / Avenue C cocktail scene.  Each cocktail on the menu is inspired by a spice – from the eponymous mace to thai chili to paprika – which also line the walls in beautiful bottles collected by co-owner Greg Boehm (of Cocktail Kingdom and Boilermaker) on travels.

There are also small plates by Chef Miguel Trinidad, creator of the Boilermaker burger which is on our list of Best Bar Foods Ever. The food here is more “small plates,” enough to soak up some of the booze, but not quite enough for full dinner.

The narrow space can get tight at peak times, so we recommend you bring a date or 1-2 friends. Or arrive early and snag one of the tables in back.
