Neta is an omakase-style sushi restaurant headed by ex-Masa and Bar Masa executive chefs. Read: excellent sushi and you don’t have to drop $450 a person! And now, they’ve also got top notch cocktails, courtesy of bar manager Aaron Polsky. The drinks are all original creations and feature salty, umami and/or Japanese flavors, like seaweed and kelp-infused sake and preserved cherry blossom syrup. This is not a spot you can go for drinks alone, but don’t worry, you’ll be pretty excited about the dinner menu. Check out our profile of Aaron and our inside look at Neta for more details and cocktail porn.
Who: Date to impress, a good friend, work colleagues/clients or visiting family
What: To eat, the omakase menu. To drink, if you’re into martinis check out the Rishiri with that seaweed and kelp-infused sake, or try the Electric China Sea Chest, a palate cleanser with Szechuan pepper to get the meal started right. Don’t forget to finish with the truffle-infused cognac – at $45 a pop it breaks the bank but hey, go hard or go home.
When: for dinner
Good for: Drinks with dinner – Schmoozing with clients/work people – Impressing people – Splurge – Where to go when other people are paying
