New & Notable in NYC

There have been so many awesome cocktail bar openings in New York of late, we’re making it easy for you to build your hit list of new & notable places around town.  We’ll be updating this list regularly, and if you know of a place we’ve missed – give us a shout. List is in reverse order of opening date, eg, most recent listed first:

Attaboy:  NOW OPEN as of March 11 from 6:45pm every night, this is the new bar in the former Milk & Honey space at 134 Eldridge, just south of Delancey.  In addition to stellar cocktail line up they are also serving wine & craft beer – and there are no reservations.  Hell-o new neighborhood bar!

The Dead Rabbit: The long awaited FiDi establishment from Irish legends Sean Muldoon & Jack McGarry; there’s a downstairs tap room with beer, punch, whiskey &  more informal fare, plus an upstairs full-on cocktail bar. (Opened February 13th.)

Milk & Honey: A re-opening, this iconic formerly-LES bar has moved to Madison Square Park and a stunning (and larger) art deco space, with the same exacting cocktail standars. (Opened late January.)

The Third Man: Another new-comer to Avenue C from the team behind Edi & the Wolf.  The name comes from a 1949 film noir set in Vienna, rom which the bar also takes its design cues. (Opened December 2012. Official website.)

Tooker Alley: A welcome addition to Prospect Heights, this bar is co-owned by former Pegu Club bartender Del Pedro and offers a drink by drink history of the martini on its menu. (Opened October 2012. Official website.)

Evelyn: Upping the cocktail game on Ave C, Evelyn is a cocktail bar that also serves up shots & beers with equal enthusiasm, perfect for a larger group and/or late night carousing. (Opened in October 2012.)

Pouring Ribbons: A spacious upstairs bar on Avenue B run by four cocktail legends – we <3 these guys and their handy cocktail graph that plots drinks from spirituous to refreshing & comforting to adventurous. Also, the chartreuse. (Opened September 14, 2012)

The Beagle: Also a re-opening, these guys transformed themselves from restaurant with bar to full on bar.  One of our top picks in the city for just about anything just about anytime. (Opened late August 2012.)
