NYC Sweeps the 2013 Spirited Awards

On Saturday night, the best and brightest of the world’s booze community gathered in New Orleans to celebrate the annual “Oscars of the Spirits World”: The Spirited Awards, the culminating event of Tales of the Cocktail.

Last year London cleaned up, so we were excited to see NYC go home with so many prizes this year.  Among the highlights, the FiDi’s recently opened Dead Rabbit Grocery & Grog took home the awards for World’s Best New Cocktail Bar and Best Cocktail Menu, while co-proprietor Jack McGarry won International Bartender of the Year.

It was also a good year for Julie Reiner, local cocktail doyenne of Flatiron Lounge, Clover Club and Monkey Bar, as well as the now defunct Lani Kai.  She was awarded Best Bar Mentor and Clover Club (located in Brooklyn’s Cobble Hill) was named Best High Volume Cocktail Bar as well as Best American Cocktail Bar.

Other NYC winners include Saxon + Parole (Best Restaurant Bar) and The NoMad Hotel (World’s Best Hotel Bar).
