From the team over at Eleven Madison Park and down the street from the Breslin and John Dory, the NoMad Hotel is doing its part to make its neighborhood a destination and not an afterthought. You can have dinner in the large, rather ornate dining room, grab drinks at the bar (if you can reach it through the crowd), or hunt for free booze hidden in the books in the library while enjoying a quieter cocktail and snacks. In summer there is also rooftop dining and imbibing – and don’t worry, if you forget your sunnies, they have a tray ready for you to borrow from. The pièce de resistance is Leo Robitschek’s custom made bottle service carts which come with the liquor of your choice plus three high end mixers – think Negronis, Southsides and Gin-Gin Mules with your bottle of gin.
As of July, 2014, the bar and library at the hotel is restricted to hotel guests. However, you can head next door to the expanded Nomad Bar, a bi-level space with a larger food menu (courtesy of executive chef James Kent) and the same great cocktails that put the original hotel bar on the map. If you’re with a group, try an 8-serving mega cocktail, which is served in a large, beveled glass dispenser. It’ll be a hit with the group and is sure to draw attention from others in the room.
