The Lantern’s Keep

A gem of a place tucked into the back of the historic Iroquois Hotel, you’ll feel like you’re stepping into a 1920’s Paris salon, right off 44th Street.  The cocktail menu reflects the period of the Temperance movement in the US and the subsequent plight of American bartenders as they moved to friendlier destinations in Europe – and it changes every month.   You’re in good hands here, so don’t be afraid to go off menu either with the Keeper’s Choice.  Just let your bartender know what spirit or flavors you prefer, and they’ll take care of the rest.

Who: Classy friends, cool work colleagues, parents

What: The McKittrick Old Fashioned – with bourbon, sherry, molé bitters – it’s pretty much heaven. And we had it at our launch party.  But you really can’t go wrong here.

When: Tuesday-Friday for happy hour are the busiest nights.  Saturday is a gem if you are looking for a laid back vibe.

Pro tip: They have great snacks – get the meatballs

Good for: Quiet drinks with a few good friends – Romantic date – Going solo
